Aesthetics guidance

Aftercare.

Thoughtful aftercare is part of your treatment. Always follow the personalised written advice provided at your appointment.

Following your appointment

Your treatment-specific advice comes first.

The information below is general guidance only. Your practitioner will provide aftercare tailored to the treatment performed, the product used and your individual circumstances.

If you are concerned about anything following treatment, contact Zoe’s Retreat as soon as reasonably possible. For a medical emergency, call 999.

Anti-wrinkle treatments

What to expect

You may notice mild redness, pinpoint bumps or slight swelling at the injection sites. This is normal and usually settles within a few hours.

Common and expected effects

Mild swelling, redness, tenderness or small bumps may occur around the injection sites. These effects are temporary and should settle naturally.

General aftercare

Keep the treated area clean and avoid touching or rubbing it unnecessarily. Makeup and moisturiser may be applied after four to six hours unless your practitioner advises otherwise.

For the first 24 hours, avoid

  • Strenuous exercise
  • Saunas, steam rooms and hot baths
  • Lying flat for extended periods
  • Alcohol
  • Massaging or rubbing the treated area

Results

Results usually begin to appear within three to five days, with the full effect visible after 10 to 14 days. Results commonly last up to three to four months, although this varies between individuals.

When to contact Zoe’s Retreat

Please contact the team if you experience unusual swelling, bruising, pain or symptoms that persist or concern you.

Seek urgent medical attention

If you experience difficulty breathing or swallowing, slurred speech, significant muscle weakness or any serious unexpected symptoms, call 999 or attend A&E.

Dermal fillers

What to expect

Swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising are common after dermal filler treatment and usually settle over the following few days.

Normal after-treatment effects

Temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, firmness, small lumps or bruising can occur. These should improve as the area settles.

General aftercare

Keep the area clean and avoid touching it unnecessarily. Avoid makeup for 12 hours. Gentle cleansing and moisturiser may be resumed after 12 to 24 hours unless advised otherwise.

For the first 48 hours, avoid

  • Strenuous exercise
  • Saunas, steam rooms and hot baths
  • Alcohol
  • Excessive sun exposure
  • Massaging or pressing the treated area

Recovery and results

Swelling and bruising usually improve within a few days but can take seven to 14 days to settle fully. Results are visible immediately, with the final result easier to assess once swelling has subsided.

When to contact Zoe’s Retreat

Please contact the team promptly if you experience severe pain, prolonged swelling, unusual discolouration or anything that concerns you.

Seek urgent medical attention

Severe or increasing pain, unusual discolouration, pale, white or mottled skin, coolness, significant swelling, visual disturbance or rapidly worsening symptoms require urgent medical attention. Call 999 or attend A&E, then contact Zoe’s Retreat or the emergency contact provided.

Microneedling

What to expect

Your skin may appear red and feel warm or sensitive, similar to mild sunburn. This usually settles within 24 to 72 hours.

Recovery

Initial redness commonly settles within 24 to 48 hours. The skin may feel tight or dry for a few days while it recovers.

Skincare and sun protection

Keep the skin clean, hydrated and protected. Use only gentle, hydrating products as advised and apply SPF 30 or higher every day. Avoid prolonged sun exposure.

After treatment, avoid

  • Active skincare such as retinol, acids and exfoliants
  • Makeup for 24 hours
  • Saunas, steam rooms and hot baths for 48 hours
  • Strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours
  • Picking, scratching or exfoliating the skin
